KNUST launches E-Learning Week celebrations
The Pro-Vice Chancellor on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and management of the University, in a ceremony held on Monday 29th August at the Amoonor Neizer Conference Centre, launched the maiden E-Learning Week celebrations of the University.

The ceremony was opened by the Director of the KNUST E-Learning Centre, Prof. Eric Appau Asante, who expressed the Centre’s appreciation to management of the University and the Institute of Distance Learning for their support in ensuring that the Centre delivers on its mandate. Prof. Asante outlined the activities of the Week celebrations and promised the Centre’s relentless efforts in ensuring that the E-Learning Week becomes an annual celebration of the University.

The Pro-Vice Chancellor - Prof. Ellis Owusu Dabo - reading a speech on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor mentioned that the idea behind the week celebrations is to create awareness about all the e-learning implementation efforts of the University and harmonize them to ensure that we are parting ourselves at the back for a good work done. The Vice-Chancellor also stated that the “KNUST’s journey in the Digital Transformation of education is worth celebrating” and she believes that “it will transform the national picture with events such as these (the E-Learning Week celebrations)”. In so doing, Prof. Owusu Dabo declared the E-Learning Week celebrations duly launched.

The event was graced by both staff and students and various stakeholders in the e-learning ecosystem. Members of staff included Prof. Isaac Kwame Dontwi – Former Director of the Institute of Distance Learning and Board Chair of the KNUST E-Learning Centre, Prof. Charles Marfo – Provost of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Leonard Amekudzi – Provost of the College of Science, Prof. Mathew Glover Addo – Director of the Institute of Distance Learning, Prof. Kwame Osei Boateng – Immediate Past Director of the Institute of Distance Learning, Mr. Emmanuel Nii-Okaidza Afful - Director of UITS among others.

The launch was followed by an exhibition at the forecourt of the E-Learning Centre and a sensitization program for students of Onwe and Ejisuman Senior High School. The day was climaxed with webinar sessions on using the KNUST Learning Management System and Internet Securities for Administrators.
